Guillermo del Toro: At Home With Monsters
A beautiful & richly illustrated book about the celebrated film director Guillermo del Toro and his creative process
Guillermo del Toro (b. 1964) is one of the most inventive filmmakers of his generation. Beginning with Cronos (1993) and continuing through Hellboy (2004), Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), Pacific Rim (2013), and Crimson Peak (2015), among many other film, television, and book projects, del Toro has reinvented the genres of horror, fantasy, and science fiction.
This volume is the companion book to an exhibition on the work of visionary director Guillermo del Toro at Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and the Minneapolis Museum of Art (MIA). At Home with Monsters reveals del Toro's creative process through his collection of paintings, drawings, maquettes, artefacts, and concept film art.
Filled with imagery from the exhibition, including favourite pieces of art that del Toro has chosen for the exhibition, and pages from his journals, the book also includes in-depth interviews and commentary from notable figures in the art world.
