Photography at MoMA: 1960 to Now
Photography at MoMA: 1960 to Now is arranged thematically into eight sections including Deconstructing Photography, Constructed Narratives, and Performance for the Camera. It also offers insights into the collection and into the museum’s history and its various directors, starting with Alfred H. Barr Jr., who began collecting photographs as early as 1930, one year after the museum’s inception and 10 years before the establishment of the photo department.
It features work by over 250 artists, including Diane Arbus, John Baldessari, William Eggleston, Lee Friedlander, Louise Lawler, Sigmar Polke, Cindy Sherman, Wolfgang Tillmans, Jeff Wall, Hannah Wilke and Garry Winogrand, among many others.
