Accompanying the Art Gallery of NSW's popular 2014 show, Pop to Popism traces pop from its origins in the 1950s through to its enduring legacy and reinvented forms in the 1980s.The book presents a fresh perspective on this art movement by reviewing the role that Australian artists played within the art movement.
Drawn from major public and private collections around the world, Pop to Popism includes over 180 works by 73 artists ranging from from Pop's best-known afionados such as Lichtenstein, Warhol, Richter and Hockney to the lesser-known Australian artists such as Tony Tuckson, Richard Larter and Martin Sharp.
