Telling Time | L'Éloge de L'heure
Telling Time, an exhibition catalogue to a show held at MUDAC (Musée de Design et d'Arts appliqués Contemporains, Lausanne) explores the history of watches and clocks from 1550 to the present.
The first section of the book looks at six centuries of watches to show how the display of time has evolved, focusing on unusual formats and ingenious examples. The second section is dedicated to designers and visual artists and their depiction of time keeping and includes the conceptual design of Maarten Baas and his Real Time project to the monochromatic Orologio by Swiss artist Valentin Carron.
The book draws on collections from Cartier, Hermes, Longines, Piaget, Apple, Seiko, Samsung, and many, many more to illustrate how far the timepiece has come and where it might be headed
