Wim Wenders Instant Stories

Wim Wenders, the distinguished filmmaker and co-founder of New German Cinema, is also a world-renowned photographer. He has exhibited his large-format, panoramic photographs in Paris, Hamburg, Berlin, Bilbao, Sydney, Shanghai, Rome, São Paulo, Moscow, Copenhagen, New York and Düsseldorf.

This book, which accompanies an exhibition at the Photographers' Gallery, London presents his polaroids. They date from the 1970s. Many capture moments in the making of Wenders' movies, but others are records of the places he travelled through: cities, small towns, deserts, highways and hotels.

The images are accompanied by Wenders' own texts, short stories and haikus, creating a beautiful impressionistic diary. A source of inspiration for photographers and a fascinating insight into Wenders' life and work.
