Museum Bookstore | exhibition catalogues and art books
Museum Bookstore is an online bookstore specialising in exhibition catalogues and books on art for those who love to visit museums and art galleries.
We believe that exhibition catalogues are a great way to open up the many hundreds of wonderful museum shows taking place around the globe to new audiences. While these books are some of the most thought-provoking, informative and beautiful around, they can be heavy to carry and difficult to track down, particularly for past exhibitions. We set up Museum Bookstore for art, fashion and design lovers whether they want to read up on an exhibition they are about to visit; read more about an exhibition being held far afield, revisit an old favourite show or just add another beautiful coffee table book to their collection.
The convenience of an online store with the warmth and personal touch of a traditional bookstore
All too often shopping for exhibition catalogues online can be a bit of a soulless experience. We are working hard to ensure that Museum Bookstore combines the great value and round-the-clock access of the internet with the convenience of home delivery and the warmth, service and personal touch of a specialist bookstore. We ship worldwide and UK delivery is free on orders over £50.00. We know that it can be hard to find the perfect book or remember the name of a particular book and like nothing better than hearing from our customers and helping them find the right books.
A wide range of exhibition catalogues from museums across the globe
We aim to offer the widest possible range of exhibition catalogues online and have hundreds of current and out of print catalogues for sale from the world-famous museums as well as smaller and lesser-known museums like the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Cornwall. We are constantly adding new books. Alongside carrying new books we also have a small and growing section of second hand rare and collectable exhibition catalogues.
Whether you are looking to read up on an exhibition before you visit; revisit your favourite exhibitions and museums; explore exciting exhibitions from afar or add another beautiful art book to your library, we have plenty to offer.
Reviews and a personal shopping service to help you find the right book
We work with a team of art historians, students & bloggers to review the latest exhibition catalogues and art books - books that often go unreviewed in the media in order to give you a better idea of what to expect in the books that we carry. We also include a customer review feature for each of the books we carry, so you can read what other readers think.
For many of our books, we have a link to a special Pinterest board with images and reviews of the exhibition that the book accompanies and include quotes from book reviews that we have found from other bloggers and journalists.
We also offer a personal shopping service whereby we collect information from customers on what they are are looking for and then mail them a selection of recommended books with a 10% discount for those books. We have worked with customers to build personal libraries and libraries for their design studios. The service is free, fun with no obligation to buy and conducted over the wonderful medium that is the internet.
Support for the museum sector
In addition to shining a light on their wonderful publications, we also support the museum sector through Museum Freecycle - the online network for UK museums to exchange unwanted goods that we run voluntarily. Museum Freecycle is successfully reducing the environmental impact of museums and saving UK museums many hundreds of thousands of pounds each year.
Who we are
We know that online shops can feel a bit anonymous, so wanted to introduce ourselves personally. Museum Bookstore was founded in 2016 by Caroline Keppel-Palmer and is based in London. Caroline set up Museum Bookstore following years of being frustrated carrying heavy exhibition books home and struggling to track down catalogues from past exhibitions online.
Prior to Museum Bookstore, Caroline has worked in politics, on cruise ships (no - not as a crooner!) and most recently as Managing Director of a design studio where she worked with museums helping to design exhibitions. She is the founder of Museum Freecycle - a recycling network for UK museums. In her spare time, Caroline can normally be found wandering around a museum, listening to 80s music or with her nose in a good book.
