A handsome book celebrating Edward Bawden's beautifully illustrated book covers

Edward Bawden was a prolific designer of dust jackets and illustrated an extraordinary number of books from the 1920s to the 1980s. This handsome book provides an overview of some of his most iconic covers and features some early and rarely seen examples alongside some of his most-loved work.

Author, Peyton Skipwith traces Bawden’s remarkable career from his designs for the students’ magazine of the Royal College of Art in the 1920s to his final commissions from the Folio Society in the 1980s. Essays explore his working methods, including drawing in pen and ink, line-engraving and his favourite medium of linocut.
