'This lavish book, edited by Luis-Martín Lozano, contains many rarely seen paintings bolstered by numerous drawings, extensive photographs from her life and reproductions of related works by other artists' - New York Times Art Books of the Year

A large format book combining all 152 of Frida Kahlo's paintings  with rarely seen photographs, diary pages, letters, and an illustrated biography

This beautifully illustrated tome from Taschen offers for the first time a survey of Kahlo's entire oeuvre. It is the most extensive and comprehensive study of Kahlo’s vast artistic career to date. Featuring works that were previously lost or haven’t been on display for over 80 years, it also includes paintings that belong to private collections and are difficult for the general public to access.

Intimate letters, drawings, and diary entries allow the reader new insight into the biography and the abundant inner life of this legendary Mexican artist, while personal photographs illustrate scenes from her marriage to the painter Diego Riviera, depicting their life together at Casa Azul.

The first half of the book explores Kahlo’s artistic career and the development of her artistic language while the second half interprets Kahlo’s entire catalogue. Together they provide new context for canonical works and highlight the importance of obscure paintings.

The book is edited by Fulbright scholarship-winner Luis-Martín Lozano who used to be the director of the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City, Kahlo's home city. Art historians Marina Vázquez Ramos and Andrea Kettenmann also contributed to the volume.

Part fine art book and part biography, The Complete Paintings is a must have for any Kahlo fan.

'You can’t pop into your nearest museum and find a Frida Kahlo painting; there are none in British public collections. And loan shows of her work get too packed to look properly; the Mexican artist with the world-famous monobrow has a huge following. But with this gigantic monograph you can enjoy your own private exhibition of her own work' - The Times Art Book of the Year
